RMCC welcomes back Christine Prescott for her third season teaching the women’s mountain bike programs with a new title as Women’s Program Co-ordinator and Coach.

We looking forward to working with her and the team to bring together some fun and exciting programs!


IMG_6541Christine Prescott: Women’s Program Coach and Program Co-ordinator

Christine has been mountain biking for over 20 years and has been involved in teaching and coaching sports for many years as well. Christine was a national level competitor with lifeguard competition and was an instructor and examiner for a number of years in Lifeguard and Aquatic Emergency Care certifications. She has been teaching cross-country skiing and mountain biking for three years and has level one certifications from the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors and the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor’s Association.

She keeps busy with her two awesome little guys (ages 3 and 5) and as an event producer for local arts events including artsPeak Festival in 2013 and the Canmore Christmas Artisans’ Market. She worked for 8 years at The Banff Centre as the marketing manager for arts programs.



Tracey Gage: Women’s Program Coach
Tracey is a dedicated all mountain and downhill MTB rider in her second season coaching with RMCC. Tracey is a certified instructor by the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor’s Association (PMBIA) as well as an ACMG, OCC and Interpretive Guides Association certified guide and trainer. She teaches and coaches guides and outdoor leaders throughout the mountain west, is an experienced educator and runs a not-for-profit association in Canmore. She has a Bachelor of Education and Wildlife Biology degree so will be sharing her nature expertise with all the ladies she will be riding with out on the trails!

Martha Handford: Rider-to-Racer Program Coach
Martha (Coach MJ) brings over 16 years of elite and masters race experience in mountain biking and cyclocross to her coaching background. Although she started her career racing Olympic-distance MTB events, she is best known as an endurance specialist. Martha has competed at World Cup, Canada Cup, as well as racing in nine 24-hour solo races (four of these on her single speed), TransRockies Challenge, BC Bike Race, Singletrack6, Test of Metal, Furious 3, Whiskey Off-Road, Rundle’s Revenge, the Salty Dog and the Cascade Cream Puff; she has also made frequent podium visits at these events.

Martha’s coaching approach is based on the strength of her racing experiences, but her accomplishments were always achieved while working full-time as a professional in a demanding job. Martha’s coaching philosophy is to teach her athletes how to reach their potential through individualized training plans that combine physical development with personal growth and achievement. Martha is the Head Coach of ATP Coaching in Canmore, AB.


CatherineVipondCatherine Vipond: Women’s Program Coach
RMCC is very excited to have Catherine Vipond join our coaching roster again this season! Catherine’s cross-country mountain bike racing highlights include representing Canada at four World Championships, winning the 2011 Canada Cup Series and earning the title internationally as 4th ranked Canadian in the same year. Catherine eagerly shares her expertise and love of mountain biking with all levels of riders coaching in both RMCC’s women’s and youth programs. She is certified with the Professional Mountain Bike Instructor’s Association and the Community Cycling Initiative and the Ready to Race! programs of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). She is working towards her Introduction to Competition Certification with NCCP.
