Are you new or relatively new to mountain biking and want to join an awesome group of ladies to learn the basics? Then RMCC’s MTB 101 is for you!

Through our skill sessions, we will cover the mountain biking fundamentals:

  • bike set-up and safety check
  • balance and body position
  • efficient shifting, proper gearing and braking
  • climbing and descending techniques
  • cornering and obstacles
  • wheel lifts, roll downs, and straight-line riding
  • common trailside mechanical repairs

We will have lots of demonstrations and time for you to practice these skills before we hit some great beginner level trails to put your rad new skills in action.


Choose from either a weekend or 5-week program:

MTB 101 Weekend Program – Canmore
Saturday & Sunday, May 13 & 14 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days

MTB 101 5-Week Program – Canmore
Wednesdays, May 10 – June 7 from 6:15 to 8:45 pm

MTB 101 & 201 5-Week Program – Banff
Thursdays, June 22 – July 20 from 6:15 to 8:45 pm

Please Note:
All participants require a mountain bike (either front or dual suspension) in good working condition and a helmet. Bike gloves are strongly recommended. Participants should be comfortable riding on an unpaved surface, but prior experience riding on singletrack mountain bike trails is not required – this program starts at the beginning and progresses skills from there! Come prepared for all weather conditions, as we will not let the rain stop us.
