Toonie Race # 1 is Completed!
As your “executive” witness to the real suffering and grit displayed by our RMCC Toonie racers, I am proud to announce the incredibly accurate iPhone timed results (@0:00) after some age corrected mathematics. We had two grizzled veterans from the dirt and asphalt, Leighton “The Legend” Poidevin (@8:03) and Phil “New Town” Villeneuve (@7:08), line up against our RMCC-R race team and one very brave Rampage Program youth, Caden “Merckx TT’d with a Mtn Bike too” Pollard (@11:23 actual or @7:30 using an age and mtn bike corrected time).
Through the cool temperatures and threatening rain they all warmed up on the Silver Tip Climb to set their suffer engines on VO2 maximum pain to test their VAMs! Sadly, our High-Performance coach, Brittany Webster had to deliver and monitor a painful TT road test around Harvey Heights for Sean “Power Metered” Parker. Our remaining RMCC-R Toonie climbers were on their own from the starting base area. With minimal 30 seconds intervals between the racers most of them surprisingly collected at the top of the Silvertip roundabout very closely together.
The fastest time was laid down by Logan “Wolverine” Sadesky (@6:56), followed closely by Jack “Phlegm Monster” Menzies (@7:01), Logan “Keener” Zenert (@7:30), and Eva “Politely Fast” Poidevan (@8:35). Eva’s age corrected time gave her the nod over another family member racing that day, who recently admitted that “staying on the wheel of his offspring is becoming a real problem!” Thanks to all who joined us last week! Please join RMCC for the next Toonie Test Climb TT up the classic gravel of Whiteman’s Gap on May 8th!
