The RMCC HopOn mountain biking program is designed for kids ages 5 to 14. Programs are divided into age-appropriate groups for ages 5–8 and ages 9–14, ensuring youth mountain bikers receive coaching that matches their skill level, confidence, and stage of development. Beginner options are also available for older riders who are new to mountain biking, so every child can learn and progress at a comfortable pace.

No prior mountain biking experience is required. The HopOn mountain biking program welcomes beginners who are just starting their mountain biking journey, as well as riders who already have basic mountain biking skills and are ready to progress. All participants should be comfortable riding a bike and interested in trail riding. Our certified coaches group riders by age and skill level to ensure every child learns safely, builds confidence, and progresses at an appropriate pace.

The HopOn mountain biking program primarily takes place at the Canmore Nordic Centre, utilizing a variety of trails suited to different skill levels. Some sessions may also explore additional trails throughout the Bow Valley to give participants a diverse and exciting riding experience. All locations are carefully chosen to provide safe, fun, and challenging mountain biking opportunities for youth riders.

Yes! All coaches in the HopOn mountain biking program are certified and experienced. Our team includes coaches with NCCP, PMBIA, and GSMBC certifications, and they bring extensive experience in coaching, racing, and riding. They focus on creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where young riders can build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of mountain biking.

Yes, all participants in the RMCC HopOn mountain biking program must have a either a current RMCC membership or purchase a 7 day HopOn membership.
Memberships provide sports accident and liability coverage throughout the duration of our program. If your child plans to take part in additional activities later in the year—such as club practices or events—you can upgrade to a full RMCC Club Membership and Alberta Bicycle License either during this registration or at any time afterward. You can purchase or renew a membership during program registration.
