Youth Mountain Bike Summer Camps

Welcome to HopOn! Rundle Mountain Cycling Club and Alberta Bicycle Association are excited to offer 5-day HopOn Summer Camps throughout 2026!

What Is HopOn?

HopOn is a fun, games-based cycling program designed for school-aged kids across Canada who already know how to ride and want to advance their skills. Modelled after Cycling BC’s iRide program and overseen by Cycling Canada, this national grassroots initiative aims to make cycling accessible while teaching kids to ride safely and confidently.

Program Overview

This week-long youth mountain biking program for riders ages 5–14 focuses on building confidence, improving technique, and progressing skills on real mountain bike trails. Participant will develop essential mountain biking skills such as:

  • Bike Control

  • Braking

  • Cornering

  • Trail Awareness.

Programming is delivered through Rundle Mountain Cycling Club and lead by Head Coach Dean Thompson and a team of NCCP-certified, HopOn-trained instructors that foster a safe, supportive, and fun environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love of mountain biking. We keep our group sizes at a maximum 8:2 ratio to ensure the best learning experience and a safe environment. This program is perfect for young riders looking to grow their abilities and enjoy mountain biking within a positive, community-focused setting.

Skill Levels

Participants are grouped by age and skill level, with Levels 1–2 riding in the morning sessions and Levels 3–5 riding in the afternoon. Before registering, please review the HopOn's levels here.

On the first day of each course we will conduct a skill assessment to best match riders with rider skill level, age, and equipment considerations.
