Spring Youth Revolution – Youth Mountain Biking Program
The Spring Youth Revolution is a fun-focused youth mountain biking program for kids ages 5–13 in the Bow Valley. Designed for both beginners and riders who have already mastered basic mountain biking fundamentals, this program helps young riders build confidence, improve technique, and progress their skills on real mountain bike trails.
Through certified coaching, hands-on instruction, and skill-based games, participants develop essential mountain biking skills such as bike control, braking, cornering, and trail awareness. Our experienced coaches foster a safe, supportive, and fun environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love of mountain biking. This program is perfect for young riders looking to grow their abilities and enjoy mountain biking within a positive, community-focused setting.
Program Overview
Youth Revolution provides multiple age groups, ensuring every participant is placed in a program tailored to their skill and ability.
RMCC's Youth Revolution for 5-9 year olds offers a structured development program focusing on fundamental mountain biking skills. This program emphasizes fun, friendship, and learning through games while building essential biking abilities under the guidance of our team of certified coaches.
Our mountain bike program for kids aged 10-13 is designed for young riders who have mastered basic mountain biking fundamentals and are ready to advance their skills. Participants should be comfortable on blue terrain. They should be eager to progress their abilities through structured learning, games, and racing.
For riders aged 10-14 that are just starting their journey into mountain biking, we have a place for you too! Older riders may be placed in mixed-age groups or older beginner groups, depending on enrollment, so every rider receives age-appropriate coaching and progresses at a comfortable pace.

TIMES: Wednesday: 5:00pm to 6:30pm, Sundays: 10:00am to 12:00am - 15 sessions total

Led by Head Coach Dean Thompson, our team consists of NCCP, PMBIA, and GSMBC certified coaches. Each with extensive experience in coaching, racing, and riding.
Pre-Camp Checklist
Bike Requirements:
Front suspension is highly recommended.
Minimum 16” wheels, no coaster brakes (two working hand brakes required).
Proper size for the rider.
Recent bike tune-up and safety check.
Equipment Essentials:
Properly fitted bike helmet (no hockey/climbing helmets).
Bike gloves, athletic shoes, rain jacket, hydration pack/snacks, and personal items.

Our certified coaches group riders by age and skill level to ensure every child learns safely, builds confidence, and progresses at an appropriate pace.

The Youth Revolution mountain biking program primarily takes place at the Canmore Nordic Centre, utilizing a variety of trails suited to different skill levels. Some sessions may also explore additional trails throughout the Bow Valley to give participants a diverse and exciting riding experience. All locations are carefully chosen to provide safe, fun, and challenging mountain biking opportunities for youth riders.

Does my child need an RMCC membership? Yes, all participants in the Youth Revolution mountain biking program must have a current RMCC membership.
