All Mountain Program (AMP)

*We are happy to announce that all spring and summer programs are a go!

Love riding? Always looking for the next challenge?

For experienced riders aged 10-18 (born 2011-2003), AMP is a mixed bag of Enduro, XC and DH mountain biking. Riders will need to be in shape, have strong fundamental skills, and an intrinsic desire to push their limits.

Interested in finding out more?

If you’d like to hear more about RMCC’s Rampage Junior Race Program or All Mountain Program (AMP), please join us for the parent and rider Info night. Our Head Coaches will give a brief presentation about the programs, and be available to answer questions to help determine if the program is right for your young rider.

Wednesday Feb 17th 7:00pm on Zoom

Program information

RMCC’s All Mountain Program (AMP) is more structured than the RMCC Youth Revolution, and is focused on all aspects of mountain biking. AMP is geared for riders who have been in RMCC programs for a minimum of two or three years and are always searching for that extra bit of speed or constantly looking to get air off anything they can! Riders who have not previously been a part of an RMCC program will need to be vetted to ensure AMP is a good fit for them.

As an example, some of the trails we will be riding could include Reclaimer, Riders of Rohan, Black Coal Chutes, Race of Spades, T-Dub, Special K, Terminator, No Homers, Upper & Lower Stoney Squaw, Topp Notch and Star Wars.

Races:
AMP also is an introduction to Enduro Racing. AMP coaches will be supporting AMP riders at several Canadian National Enduro Series Races.

Coaches: AMP is led by Head Coach Kevin Eaton and a team of NCCP and PMBIA-certified coaches who have a wealth of coaching, racing, and riding experience. Meet the AMP coaching team.

Please Note:
Pre-requisites include a high level of both fitness and fundamental mountain bike skills. Participants must be comfortable on the trails listed above.

Dates: May 1 – June 26 & September 4 – 21, 2021 Tuesdays and Saturdays

Thursday Downhill Skill Sessions: May 6 – June 24 & September 2 – 23, 2021
The added Thursday sessions are for those that can’t get enough riding in and want to take their skills and racing to the next level. Thursday sessions are for the advanced group of AMP riders who want to spend time honing their downhills skills.  May sessions will take place in town and will be from 5:30-7:30, and June sessions and a few sept sessions will take place in Bragg Creek and will be from 6-8PM (5-9 when you factor in the time to drive to Bragg Creek and back).  We will be hitting the awesome downhill trails in Bragg Creek and really be working those enduro skill on steep and technical rides.  (Full face helmet is recommended for the Bragg Creek sessions)

  • Thursdays: 5:30-7:30 pm or 5:00-9:00PM.  Dates of shorter and longer evenings TBA by coach once season starts.
  • COST: $450

AMP Summer Enduro Camps – Panorama

Dates: July 6 & 7, 2021,  COST:$225

Coach Kevin and Coach Sylvain are stoked to offer two 2-day camps at Panorama again this summer! Camp fees includes 2 full days of coaching.  Accommodation at Panorama as well as meals and lift ticket will be up to each individual to manage. Enduro bikes are appropriate to use for the camp. A full-face downhill helmet, which can be rented at the hill for a small fee, is required for the camp.

Program Fees

Spring & Fall – two sessions per week: $935*
Spring & Fall – add on Thursday sessions: $450*
Panorama Camp: $225*
Panorama Pass:  about $100 (price to be confirmed asap:  special deal for AMP riders)

*Annual RMCC membership/insurance required for all programs.

Please note: race entry fees are in addition to the program fee.

As RMCC provides a major financial subsidy to the program fee, AMP riders are required to wear their RMCC AMP jersey at races. We are stoked to have a custom-designed RMCC AMP team jersey! The jersey is $50 and is mandatory for all AMP riders.

RMCC members applying for financial support and race reimbursements from the club are required to wear the most recent club kit.

Volunteer Requirement & Bond:

AMP is subsidized by RMCC – parents of AMP riders are needed to volunteer 10 hours with RMCC  events and activities to make this subsidy possible. A volunteer bond of $350 is required to register for the program. Please prepare a cheque post-dated for October 1, 2021 and pass on to the AMP Head Coach at the first session. If you meet the volunteer requirements, RMCC will destroy or return your cheque.

The volunteer requirement for parents/guardians of AMP riders may be satisfied by participating in one of the items below:

  • RMCC Executive, Event Organizer, or Committee Position
  • Volunteer required number of hours at any of the club volunteer opportunities (specifically at the Casino, cyclocross and road race event as these are the events that help subsidize the AMP program). Helping to shuttle riders on Bragg Creek days or on Saturday long rides that are not at the nordic centre.  A link to the volunteer site will be sent to you to and will track your volunteer hours.

In order for athletes to receive any additional reimbursements (Race Subsidies, Youth Race Fund, etc.) from RMCC, the volunteer requirements must be completed in full.

Registration:

For riders who were not part of RMCC AMP previously and wish to join AMP in 2021, please email AMP Head Coach Kevin Eaton to ensure the program is a good fit. Kevin will provide the access code required to enable the registration form.  There will also be a parent info night on Feb 17th at 7:00 on Zoom for new riders interested in finding out more about the program.  Contact the program manager for the link.

Grab your friends and join us for some challenging riding and a great time!

Registration for AMP begins FEB 1 (returning athletes) and FEB 17 (new athletes joining in 2021).
Note: a registration code from the Head Coach is required.

Rockies Ride for Kids Scholarship! Apply this week by Friday!

Due to the financial constraints that some families may have felt this last year, RMCC would still like to offer the “Rockies Ride for Kids Scholarship” for 2020. 4 scholarships of $250 will be awarded to youth candidates who participated in RMCC programs this year and can demonstrate financial need and their commitment to the true sport values. Through RMCC and the True Sport Foundation, this scholarship is awarded with the intent that the funds go to athletes/families who are struggling with sports fees/costs, and also taking into account the athlete’s ability/performance, character, and financial need.
RMCC will award 4 scholarships, based on applications received by January 10th, 2021.
Scholarship Eligibility: To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be a current member of RMCC, must be between 12 and 18 years of age and must have participated in programs in 2020 (August or Sept programs as that is all we had running this year)

Key Selection Criteria: Applicants will apply to the RMCC Program Manager in writing by January 10 of 2021 (email to: admin@rundlemountaincyclingclub.com) outlining in a letter (no more than one page) how they meet the following selection criteria:

Statement of financial need addressing how the funds will be used to enable continued participation in cycling;
Demonstration of the True Sport Principals. In your letter, please outline how you have lived at least three of the following principals through your involvement with RMCC this season.

RMCC gives $1070 in Trail Fees for some good cheer RMCC gives $1070 in Trail Fees for some good cheer 😄🚵‍♂️🚵🎅 and hope for a better 2021! The club is very happy to continue supporting the Canmore Trail Alliance as it builds new challenging trails for club programs and public use at Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park!

The 4.5 km Iliad Trail (aka Long Loop Trail) will be located between the Rundle and Meadowview ski trails and is designed to be challenging and fun with lots of elevation changes. It will be constructed predominately to blue square difficulty with black diamond sections that will have ride-around options built in.

Construction began in 2020, and saw 144 volunteers dedicate over 770 hours towards building 1.5 km. Construction will continue in 2021 – the Canmore Trail Alliance would like to thank the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club for supporting this project and looks forward working with the club on this trail project.
