Have you been riding for awhile and wondering how to take your skills to the next level? Do you want to improve your confidence, bike maneuvering and technical ability? Then the RMCC Men’s Skill Sessions are for you!
Now offered for men too by popular demand – the RMCC Skill Sessions are for intermediate or advanced riders who are comfortable on trails like Highline, Soft Yogurt and EKG. Riders registering for these session should be confident on their bike and be proficient with braking, riding in control and riding uneven terrain. Feel free to drop us a line if you are unsure if these programs would be suitable for you, and also check out our NEW! 5-Week MTB 201 Program.
Intro to Bunnyhops
July 3 from 6:15 to 8:45 pm (co-ed)
Want to get more pop, hop and play out of your ride? Join Coach Gavin Conner, rad bike skills guru, for this session to get your wheel lifts amped! Gavin will build from front wheel lifts into manuals and bunnyhops with step-by-step coaching. Then we’ll take it to the trail to put the new skills into action. Note: this session is open to men & women.
Descending the Steeps
June 11 & 25 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm (co-ed)
Want to be able to tackle those steep sections of trail with confidence and ease? This skill session will offer up tips and techniques to take your skills on the steeps to the next level. Body position, braking, line selection, gaining time on descents and the mental game will be covered. We are stoked to have RMCC All Mountain Program (AMP) Head Coach and Enduro racing machine Kevin Eaton as our coach for this session. Based on last year’s sessions, where everyone wanted more coaching time with Kevin, we’ve made this a two-part session. Note: this session is open to men & women.
Note: also check out our MTB 201 5-week program, as learning to ride steeper and more technical terrain is a focus of this new program.
Jumps & Drops
June 6 from 6:15 to 8:45 pm (co-ed)
June 15* from 6:15 to 8:45 pm (NOTE DATE CHANGE)
Learn a variety of bike maneuvers that will help you feel the rush of some wheel air time while building confidence and bike handling skills. Bike park builder and coach Gavin Conner will start you off with rolling small drops, learning several wheel lifts and build up to larger drops and table top jumps. All this will be done in a local Canmore bike park.
A full suspension bike is recommended for this session (front suspension a must). Arm pads and knee pads are also recommended but not required. Participants must have flat pedals and flat shoes on for this session.
Cost $55 per session* + RMCC membership/insurance
* Descending the Steeps two-part session is $110.
All participants require a mountain bike in (either front or dual suspension) good, working condition and a helmet. Bike gloves are strongly recommended. Come prepared for changing weather conditions, as we will not let the rain stop us!
